Main Staff Team
Dawn Pirie - Manager
Hi I’m Dawn, owner and manager of The Learning Meadow. I have over 25 years experience in early years learning and my goal and vision is to offer a nurturing learning space in an outstanding outdoor nursery, based on the Scandinavian approach to early years’ education.
I have a passion for outdoor learning and hold a B.A Honours degree in Early Years and Childhood Studies. I have used the insights gained of outdoor learning, during my studies and have developed them into the nurturing and sustainable approach for our new outdoor nursery. I am paediatric first aid trained.
I have truly immersed myself in the outdoor learning principles on a study visit to Stockholm where I observed how children benefit both emotionally and socially through the natural environment.
More recently I have been working with young adults with profound and multiple learning difficulties who have benefitted from the therapeutic advantages of engaging with animals. Observing the impact has motivated me to become involved with animal care at The Learning Meadow and have introduced animals such as sheep, goats and chickens for the children to care for.
I feel very privileged to have a strong, supportive and passionate team around me and together we will ensure your children access a high level of care and a range of experiences through nature.

Gabrielle Redmond - Early Years Partner
Hi, I am Gabbi. I have worked in an Early Year setting since finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I am paediatric first aid trained.
I have been fortunate enough to travel to St Lucia in South Africa. Whilst I was there, I did voluntary work in a local school and nursery. It was here that I found my passion for outdoor learning. Having studied how children thrive in more natural outdoor settings, I knew both from my experience and my studies that The Learning Meadow's ethos and setting was for me.
It has always been my calling to work with children. I am imaginative and creative, I am excited to sit around the campfire with the children and share stories, and a cookie or two.
